Mr. Tompkins in Miniscaleland

I borrowed the title of this text from outstanding book Mr. Tompkins in Wonderland by George Gamow. If you are interested in modern physics, I heartily recommend this book. However, as you clicked on this text, I guess you are more interested in miniscale airplane models. In following chapters you will find a few observations from somebody who is new in this category and therefore sometimes gropes in the dark in issues which are so clear to experienced modelers that you can’t even find it anywhere. My trip into the world of miniscale models is reminiscent of Mr. Tompkins adventures from above mentioned book, only instead of professor of physics you will (hopefully) find behind each chapter the notes from two editors of this server: editor in chief ISim and miniscale professor Felda. Chapters will be added little by little, so please be patient.

If you want to comment the text (I’ll be glad), use forum (in Czech), or send us your notes and comments by email to: minimakety[-at-]minimakety.cz. Selection from your notes will be later published behind each chapter in special “People’s voice” paragraph.

English version note: I try to translate the text the best I can. However, there are some Czech related issues which might be difficult to understand for foreign readers (communism times relations, modelers famous in former Czechoslovakia) plus some jokes might loose its humor after lousy translation. I also can not differentiate the style of the authors (me, ISim and Felda) language wise as it is clear in original Czech version. So if there is something you don’t understand it’s my mistake. If you think you found improper use of terms please let me know and I’ll try to update the text in reasonable time.
